Trivia[]
- Billie Jean King is the second LGBTQ+ hero to appear on the television show, with the first being Sally Ride. However, she is the first LGBTQ+ hero in the book series. King is openly lesbian. The episode did not reference her sexuality, much like Sally Ride in I Am Madam President, otherwise it would be banned in Alabama.
- Interestingly enough, October 8 is International Lesbian Day. It's unknown if this was a coincidence or intentional.
- Billie Jean King is the third person to be alive. The first was Jackie Joyner-Kersee and the second was Dolores Huerta.
- Brad's love of ballet is a callback to I Am Anna Pavlova, which coincidentally had played the overture to Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker".
- The real life Billie Jean King was hired as an expert on this episode.[1]
- Cory Bobiak no longer directs the show as of this episode. It is directed by Logan McNeil instead.
