Broadcast[]
I Am Dolores Huerta, along with its sister episode, "I Am Cesar Chavez," aired on October 5, 2020.
Trivia[]
- Dolores Huerta is the second person to be alive. The first is Jackie Joyner-Kersee
- Xavier's off-key recorder playing is a call-back to "I Am Johann Sebastian Bach."
- The model for both the band leader and the big kid who was hogging up the time on the game machine was recycled from Benjamin and Theodore from the episode "I Am Winston Churchill."
- Dolores was a baton twirler in high school, though it's not clear if her club coordinated with a marching band, or if Dolores led one.
- This is the third time that Xavier blushes, the first two times being in "I Am Helen Keller" and "I Am Madam President."
- This is also the third time that Yadina blushes, the first two times being in "I Am George Washington" and "I Am Madam President."
- Xavier puts a clarinette in his mouth after the girl in front of him uses it, and the only thing done to clean off her saliva is her briefly rubbing it with her sleeve. This was a potentially irresponsible thing for PBS to display without warning during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic when children are being encouraged to use social distancing to slow the spread, and schools are even being closed as a result. However, the episode was likely produced before news of the pandemic hit the media.
