I Am Jackie Robinson is the first segment of the 14th episode in Season 1 of Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum. The episode was later remade for Season 2.

Synopsis

When a bully makes up his own cruel playground rules that aren't fair for everyone, Yadina is absolutely outraged! In retaliation, Yadina makes up some unfair rules of her own... but is left with a nagging feeling that things still aren't right. To the Secret Museum! Our heroes are sent back in time to meet legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. Yadina watches as Jackie consistently meets unfair treatment on his road to the majors, but instead of getting angry or retaliating, Jackie takes the high road and continues to play ball, really well, ultimately inspiring an entire country to think differently about how they treat people. And also inspiring Yadina to go home and treat everyone fairly, no matter what.

This episode aired along with its sister episode, I Am Anna Pavlova on January 20, 2020, at 9:00 AM EST.

The episode (along with I Am Anna Pavlova) stopped airing after August 2020 and was banned because PBS received numerous complaints from viewers that it whitewashed history, taught kids to make friends with racists, and compared disagreements between kids to systemic racism. It no longer airs on TV but is still available on Amazon, iTunes, Vudu, TVOKids, and YouTube TV. Brad Meltzer claimed it had not been banned, but the episode has not aired since 2020.

Due to this, the episode was remade as a half-hour special for season 2, with a different mantra.

Trivia

• This is the first episode to air in 2020.
• The bully’s name, Brian, is only mentioned in the credits.
  • In addition, Brian wears a blue puppy-dog coat, which is a small reference to the character Blue from Blue’s Clues and You!, another series produced by 9 Story Media Group and Brown Bag Films.
• This is the first time that Yadina wears a red coat.
• The Old Man and Young Man from I Am Zora Neale Hurston make cameos in the crowd cheering for Jackie Robinson.
